Don 2 Movie : Music Review

The album of Don 2 begins with the introductory monologue by Shahrukh Khan. Mere dushman samajh rahe the mein ab kabhi laut ke na aaonga. Ek gumnami ka samundar hai, usmein hi jaake doob jaaonga. Abhi baaki meri kahani hai… Aa Raha Hoon Palat Ke… Main Hun Don

Zaraa Dil Ko Tham Lo is the next track centered again on the super stylish Don. The haunting tune may not have the lasting effect on your mind, but for the time when you are with the song, it grows on you and you might easily feel the intense, dark tone of this sleek thriller.

The next track is as electrifying as its singer. Usha Uthup perks up the album with the track Hai Ye Maaya. Uthup’s soaring vocals with quavering variation gives the song its required zing.

The Hai Ye Maaya remix version is also a terrific number, on a par with the original. It stands out because of its hair-raising beats.

Here comes the trademark track of the Don series: Mujhko Pehchaan Lo Main Hun Don. The pulsating beats build up the tension and suspense, and kudos to the powerful singing of KK. He has sung it with spunk. Mujhko Pehchaan Lo Remix version falls flat, and after a point the repetitive ‘Don’ sounds bore you.

The instrumental tracks like Don Waltz and The King Is Back win you over, especially the Don Waltz.

Yet, despite these few moments of musical high, Don 2 soundtrack wavers between fair to middling. It’s a soundtrack weighed down by monotony. Not only do the songs continue in the same flow and mood, we feel that the music composers couldn’t get over with the hangover of Don: The Chase Begins.

The songs lack shine and fail to score considering the hype hoopla over Shahrukh Khan’s Don 2.
